We have decided to take our project in another direction- we felt that the filming we had done lacked the realism and seriousness needed to compliment our storyline, so we decided to simplify it but also add elements for more complexity. We have removed the scene of the man finding a corpse, as we felt it seemed irrelevant and made the story too linear and uneventful.
In our new storyline, we wanted to keep our car crash scene as we think it is very effective, but this meant we had to think of something that would cause the man to run out of his house. We discussed possibilities and came up with the idea of the character having disturbing visions of a girl. The man enters his house and begins to watch television- we want to keep this sequence as downplayed and simple as possible to create a feeling of normality. We then decided to create a feeling of uneasiness- the TV goes blank and the lights start to flicker. We feel by adding a supernatural themed sequence we can exaggerate this more to create atmosphere. For this idea we have taken influence from films such as "The Grudge" and "The Ring". We also felt that this would allow us to create a background story and a catalyst for the rest of the plot. For the vision sequences, we have compiled various shots of the girls face, partially shown in flickering light, and we plan to add more effects during the editing process. So far we are generally quite happy with what we have, but we plan to refilm some elements now we know what we are definitely doing.
